Rules & Regulations of This Department

1. This department is open only to bonafide 4-H and FFA members who have completed 12th grade and under as of January 1st of the current year. 4-H and FFA members from any southern middle Tennessee or north Alabama counties are eligible to compete.

2. Entries will be accepted at the following times:
  • Tuesday and Wednesday before the Fair 3-7 P.M.: Dept. 40, all sections and Dept. 42, Sections 1-3. Judging will be Thursday at 9 A.M.
  • Friday before the Fair 1-7 P.M. & Saturday 8 A.M.- noon: Dept. 41, all sections and Dept. 42 Pre-4-H, Section 4
  • Monday 7:30 A.M. – noon: Dept. 43 Cooking and Dept. 42 Pre 4-H Baking • 4-H Baking Items enter at Extension Office.

3. Exhibits will be removed on Sunday, following Fair closing, from 1:00 - 2:30 P.M. Do not arrive before 1:00 P.M. as entries will not be released before then. Exhibitors are responsible for items left after 2:30 P.M. No care will be taken to protect them after Sunday. Items left will be considered abandoned and subject to disposal.

4. A sweepstakes ribbon will be presented to the person with the most exhibits.

5. All items must be made, grown or raised by the exhibitor making the entry during the last year, unless otherwise noted.

No items may have been entered in a previous fair. Potted plants and hanging baskets may be entered more than one year. No purchased items may be entered in the Field Crop, Vegetable, Honey and Home Products, Display, or Flower sections. Crafts, Canning and Sewing must also be completed by the exhibitor. No purchased products, except for flowers for arrangements. Any 4-H, FFA member, or family not abiding by above rules may be barred from entering anything in the Fair in the future. Discretion will be determined by the Fair Board. The Fair Board reserves the right to re-categorize any item not entered correctly.

6. Pre-registration of entries is encouraged to prevent long waiting periods. Online entry is available on the Fair's website at  www.LincolnCountyFairTN.Com. Entry forms may be picked up at the Lincoln County Extension Office or may be downloaded from the Fair website at www.LincolnCountyFairTN.com.

7. Premiums are 1st $6, 2nd $4, 3rd $2, all other credible entries $1 unless otherwise noted. Best of Show will receive $10.

Food Preservation

If ring lids are used, rings must be on jar. Standard pint or quart jars for Vegetables and Fruits. Standard pint, 1/2 pint, or 1/4 pint should be used for jellies and jams, etc. Make all efforts to use rings not rusted.

4-H Educational Exhibits
Department 40

Class 2; Grades 4th-7th

Tri-fold board exhibit using fair theme
Class 3; Grades 8th-12th
Exhibit booths must be designed using Fair theme.
Exhibitor must use 3x3 booths provided.

1. Exhibits must be made by individual Lincoln County
4-H members.
2. Exhibits should be of project educational value.
3. Exhibits must be in place by 12:00 P.M. on first Saturday of Fair, and remain until Sunday following the Fair.
4. Spaces for exhibits must be reserved by calling the Extension Office (433-1582). Reservations will be made on a first-come, first-served basis. Space is limited to 10 exhibits for Class 3 and unlimited for Class 2.
5. All exhibits must be on one of the 26 4-H projects.
6. Exhibits need to use the Fair Theme.
7. Exhibits will be judged and awards will be given on the basis of the following scorecard:
  a. GENERAL APPEARANCE– 50 points:
    i. Neatness - 10 points
    ii. Balance - 5 points
    iii. Workmanship quality – 5 points
    iv. Power to attract and hold attention – 20 points
    v. Level of Interest - 10 points
  b. EDUCATIONAL VALUE 50 points:
    i. Message related – 20 points (subject matter accurate and message grasped quickly)
    ii. Follows theme – 20 points
    iii. Creativity (original idea) – 10 points


TOTAL 100 POINTS
8. Premiums are as follows: 1st $50, 2nd $40, 3rd $30. All other credible exhibits $10.
